 Venture Program Coordinator (Part-Time - Hybrid)

Compensation: $34-40/hour

Time Commitment: Approximately 14 hours per week

Location: Primarily remote, with occasional in-person participation for key events and programming

About the Role

The Carolina Angel Network (CAN) is seeking a highly organized, entrepreneurial, and proactive Venture Program Coordinator to support our investment activities and Venture Fellow Program. This role is ideal for an individual with direct early-stage venture capital, startup, accelerator, or angel investing experience who is excited to work closely with founders, investors, and students while helping scale a growing university-affiliated angel network.

The Venture Program Coordinator will work directly with the Director to manage investment diligence workflows, oversee a team of Venture Fellows, improve operational processes through AI and automation, and support initiatives that drive member engagement and network growth.

This is a flexible, part-time position offering meaningful exposure to venture investing, startup ecosystems, and angel network operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesVenture Fellow Program Leadership

  • Lead and scale the Venture Fellow Program, managing a cohort of six Venture Fellows.

  • Conduct structured weekly check-ins and provide ongoing mentorship and professional development.

  • Establish clear expectations, project ownership, and accountability for fellow deliverables.

  • Coordinate fellow-driven initiatives that support investment diligence, membership engagement, events, and network growth.

Investment Memo Management

  • Own the end-to-end investment memo process for approximately 10 investment opportunities annually.

  • Ensure investment memos are completed on schedule and maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and analytical rigor.

  • Coordinate diligence activities across Venture Fellows and other stakeholders.

  • Synthesize research, market analysis, competitive intelligence, and company diligence into concise investment recommendations.

AI, Automation & Process Improvement

  • Design and implement automated workflows that improve the efficiency and quality of investment research and memo creation.

  • Identify and leverage AI tools to streamline research, synthesis, note-taking, drafting, and diligence processes.

  • Continuously improve internal systems, templates, and workflows to support network growth and scalability.

Deal Screening & Pipeline Support

  • Conduct introductory screening calls with prospective portfolio companies.

  • Evaluate opportunities against network investment criteria and priorities.

  • Summarize key insights and recommendations from screening conversations.

  • Support diligence prioritization and investment pipeline management.

Strategic & Operational Support

  • Partner closely with the Director on investment initiatives, special projects, and strategic priorities.

  • Support Venture Fellow projects related to membership management, recruitment, events, and community engagement.

  • Assist with the execution of programs and initiatives that strengthen the investor experience and expand network participation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Direct experience in venture capital, angel investing, startup accelerators, entrepreneurship, startup operations, investment banking, consulting, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of early-stage venture investing, startup business models, fundraising, and diligence processes.

  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and compelling investment analyses.

  • Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and investment evaluation.

  • Familiarity with AI tools and a demonstrated interest in workflow automation and process optimization.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Self-starter with strong initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Comfortable working independently in a flexible, remote environment while collaborating closely with leadership.
